January 2014: Coach Daan Polders has been nominated for Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coach Award® 2014 sponsored by MaxPreps!

November 2013: "Thanks for being a special part of Emma’s life.  You took a green, nervous, unsettled freshman, and helped make her a more mature and focused young lady.  In the process, she learned a beautiful game, and was a part of something very special.  It is so rare to have someone like you grace the life of a young person - you have to know she has grown from the experience, and I know has a special place for you in her heart…frankly, you will likely be the comparison for many who come next – coaches, teachers, etc – and you have set a high standard". Parent R, Denver, CO.

May 2012: 'She is excited and is loving field hockey..thanks to you!! we appreciate all your hard work and support of the girls!!' - Mrs. B., Winston-Salem, NC

April 2012: "We are happy to see that you are coming back to Denver with your clinics. My daughter loved it last year and the sport psychology sessions really helped her to become a better athlete." - Mrs. S, Denver, CO

"Daan was great to work with. Whether we were working on specific skills or just talking about the structure of the game, he was able to give me good instruction on every aspect of my play. Between the drills and exercises we did, Daan gave me critiques which has helped me focus on my weaknesses and better myself as a player. When I started going through the recruiting process, he was one of my references to college coaches. It was nice to have a reliable and qualified coach who was willing and eager to respond to any emails he received from my potential schools. Due to the fact that the recruiting process is often difficult and hard to understand, I was able to shoot Daan a text or email to ask for his opinion and advice, which he always provided with honesty, and with my best interest in mind. I always felt comfortable keeping an open and ongoing connection with Daan, because he made himself accessible to me, which I believe, ultimately helped me pick the right team and school for my future."
-Lyndsie D. from Kernersville, NC

"Thanks again for Friday...Abby had a great time and she loved Jamie's session. She said that she really knows how to talk to them and “get on their level”. Please pass on the thanks there for me!" - Mrs. J. , PA

'I know both Jamie and Daan very well.

Daan is a very enthusiastic coach who has a great eye for the game and has a very pleasant way of teaching new skills (for example; drag flicking) and improving technique. He knows how to motivate you in a positive way while being critical at the same time. The best combination you can ask for in a coach!

Jamie helped me to open up to the psychological aspects that influence your performance. She taught me that a good understanding of what goes on in your head is just as essential to a good performance as is being in good physical shape. Learning how to better control negative thoughts (insecurity, frustration) and outside influences during a game have really made me a better player.'

Veerle Goudswaard, former Michigan State University player, Honda Award Nominee, member of Dutch National Indoor Team, currently playing national league in The Netherlands.

About the book:

"In the past, I have not been a fan of reading books concerning mental training in sports due to the inflexibility I have found that comes from ideals put forward from the authors. On the suggestion of Ainslee Lamb at BC, I read the book and was glad I did so. I like to refer to it as a manual more than a book on the basis of the interaction that is involved whilst reading.

This interaction is the reason for enjoying this manual more so than others that I have read previously. I have mentioned to other coaches the benefits that I got from the read and have implemented certain ideals into the national program and training in San Diego.

I have certainly suggested it to other coaches in our sport"
